Nitish Kumar is serving as the 22nd Chief Minister of Bihar. He has previously held the position five times. He has also served as a Union minister. Kumar is a member of the Janata Dal (United). On April 10, 2016, he was chosen national president of his party. He joined the National Democratic Alliance, which had previously been the opposition, and obtained a majority in the legislature. In April 2016, the Bihar administration declared the state of Bihar alcohol-free.
