if you don't like Cannibal Corpse's lyrics, you should look at bands like Dying Fetus, Aborted, Blood Duster (Australian), Anal Cunt, etc. bahahaha. not death metal in particular, but GWAR also is a candidate for awful lyrics. "Fuckin an animal" comes to mind.

job for a cowboy barely qualifies for death metal, especially not in that particular song. it falls under the stupid new genre of ['brutal word goes here']core.

Coal Chamber isn't death metal. they're like alternative.



anyway, back to the topic: just because it's about gore and death, doesn't mean it's death metal (that said, Cannibal Corpse is death metal, just trying to clear something up though). whilst it can characterize it, it's usually just the growls and heavy as fuck fast riffs.
not to be a scenefag, but in regards to death metal, Children of Bodom is where it's at in my opinion. (note: my opinion.) melodic death metal in general, but especially them. also Black Dahlia Murder (gasp, genre controversy) are up there, their latest album being up there with the best in the genre. well worth BUYING if you're in to metal.

^ also truth, another great band under the same genre. something about the sub-genre that makes it that much more listenable.

 

And to think, at one time, people thought Slayer's talking of Auschwitz(I know I spelled that wrong, didn't I?) was as bad as it could get!!

Death Metal is something that people go to to take out their aggression in their life. I've several death metal albums, for sure, but I suppose it's listening to songs like this that have caused poor teens of today to do such thigns as Columbine, and all those other school shootings, right?

I think people seek out music that fits their mood/they can relate to. Not the other way around. If you're depressed, you might seek out depressive music. If you're angry, you might listen to death metal.
